ARLEQUIN
Potholder
Comments: Ok, you smelled me out... this is not exactly a new pattern, but essentially an evolution of my Flag Potholder; having used it a lot in my kitchen; I decided to crochet another one, but I changed the pattern a bit. I found it nicer, so I decided to write out the new pattern.
Size : 17 x 19 cm. (6 1/2 " x 7 1/2")
Material : Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn ( we call it "Poor Cotton", but a yarn like "Sugar&Cream should be good), color A=bluette, B=Red, C= Yellow, Hook no.4 (US=G/6);you may want to give a look to my virtual store if you need materials.
Stitches :ch, sc, dc
Difficulty: easy
Directions
Tip: do not cut yarn when joining a new color, but drop it and take it again after two rows. The sceaps will be hidden by the border.
Start with A, 22 +1 ch
1. sc in ea ch; 2 ch, turn
2.* 2 dc in next sc, sk a sc*; Repeat * to * along Row;2 ch, turn; join B,
3.* 2 dc in next skipped sc*; Repeat * to * along Row;2 ch, turn; join C
4.* 2 dc in next skipped dc of 2nd-below Row, sk a dc of 2nd-below Row*; Repeat * to * along Row;2 ch, turn; join A,
5-21.Repeat Row 4, changing color at each Row. Cut thread
Border
Join A
1. A: sc all around, making 3 sc in borders; join B
2. B: *(sc in next sc) 3 times, (3 ch,sl st in 3rd ch) = picot*; Repeat * to * all around, making 3 sc in corner sc, and crocheting (sc, 6 ch, sc) in last corner (loop of potholder). Cut thread, weave in ends.
