Size : 20 cm. ( 8 inches)

Material :Pearl cotton # 5, hook 1.9 mm (Boye steel#5), light blue; you can substitute with Cebelia #5 or equivalent cordonnet thread (but the gauge can slightly vary); you may want to give a look to my virtual store if you need materials.

Stitches (for reference look at my stitches page):

ch, sc, dc, tr,

Picot = 3 ch, sc in first ch.

shell = (3 tr, 2 ch, 3 tr) worked in same st/sp.

dc cluster = dcl = (dc not closed on first st, dc not closed on second st, dc not closed on 3rd st, close dc together)

Difficulty: Medium.

Directions

Start with 6 ch, join with sl st to first ch.

1. 12 sc in lp, join with sl st to first st.

2. 2 dc in ea sc, join with sl st to first st. =>24 dc

3. [sc in next dc, 7 ch, sk 2 dc]*. Repeat * to * 8 times, join with sl st to first st.

4. [9 sc in next sp]*. Repeat * to * 8 times, join with sl st to first st.

5. sk 2 sc, [sc in next sc, 3 ch, sk a sc, shell in next sc, 3 ch, sk a sc, sc in next sc, 3 ch, sk 4 sc]*. Repeat * to * 8 times, join with sl st to first st.

6. [(dc in next tr) 3 times, 2 ch, 2 dc in next sp, 2 ch, (dc in next tr) 3 times, 3 ch]*. Repeat * to * 8 times, join with sl st to first st.

7. [(dc in next tr) 3 times, 3 ch, (dc in next dc) 2 times, 3 ch, (dc in next tr) 3 times, 3 ch]*. Repeat * to * 8 times, join with sl st to first st.

8. [dcl on next 3 dc, 5 ch, dc in next dc, 2 ch, dc in next dc, 5 ch, dcl on next 3 dc, 5 ch]*. Repeat * to * 8 times, join with sl st to first st.

9. [(dc, ch, dc) on next dcl, 5 ch, shell in 2-ch sp, 5 ch, (dc, ch, dc) on next cl, 5 ch]*. Repeat * to * 8 times, join with sl st to first st.

10. [tr in next 1-ch sp, 5 ch, shell in shell, 5 ch, tr in next 1-ch sp, 5 ch]*. Repeat * to * 8 times, join with sl st to first st.

11. [(sc, picot, sc) on nextr tr, 5 sc in next sp, (sc on next tr) 3 times, (3 dc, picot, 3 dc) in shell sp, (sc on next tr) 3 times, 5 sc in next sp, (sc, picot, sc) on next tr, 5 sc in next sp]*. Repeat * to * 8 times, join with sl st to first st. Cut thread, weave in ends.

N.B.

Substitute ever (also if not explicitly said) first st in a row as follows:
- first sc with 1 ch, sc;
- first hdc with 2 ch;
- first dc with 3 ch;
- first tr with 4 ch...and so on;
When you read "sl st to <location>", where the location is not immediately contiguous to last st, this means of course "an appropriate number of sl sts for reaching <location>".
Also if I do not specify it, if you lasted prev row on a st (say st1), while you must start next row in another st (say st2), make an appropriate number of sl sts to reach st2.
