Hotpad

Comments: A big-size and robust hotpad...I like it.
Size : 11 x 11 inches ( 28 x 28 centimeters)
Material : Worsted Weight Yarn, color white, red and pink, Hook no.6(US=J/10); you may want to give a look to my virtual store if you need materials.
Stitches : ch, sc, dc
Difficulty: easy
Directions
The Hot Pad is composed of two parts, that are joined together with the border row. Both parts are crocheted with two strands of yarn together, the first one with red and white and the second one with red and pink.
Front
Start with 4 ch, join with sl st in first ch
1. *2 dc in lp, 2 ch*; Repeat * to * times, join with sl st to first st.
2. sl st in next sp, *(2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc)=dc corner in next sp, 2 ch*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.
3. *dc corner in dc corner, 2 ch, 2 dc in next sp, 2 ch*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.
4.*3 sc in dc corner lp (=sc corner), (sc in next dc) twice, 2 sc in next sp, (sc in next dc) twice, 2 sc in next sp*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.
5.*dc corner in central sc of sc corner, 2 ch, sk sc, (dc on next sc)twice, [2 ch, sk 2 sc, (dc on next sc)twice]twice, 2 ch*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.
6. *dc corner in dc corner, [2 ch, 2 dc in next sp]4 times, 2 ch*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.
7.*sc corner in dc corner sp, sc in ea dc, 2 sc in ea lp along all side*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.
8.*dc corner in central sc of sc corner, [ (dc on next sc)twice, 2 ch, sk 2 sc]6 times, (dc in next sc)twice*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.
9.sc all around the square, crocheting 2 sc in ea 2-ch sp on sides and crocheting 3 sc in corners sp. Cut thread, weave in ends.
Back
Start with 4 ch, join with sl st in first ch
1. *2 dc in lp, 2 ch*; Repeat * to * times, join with sl st to first st.
2. sl st in next sp, *(2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc)=dc corner in next sp, 2 ch*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.
3. *dc corner in dc corner, (dc on next dc) twice, 2 dc in next sp, (dc on next dc )twice*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.
4. *dc corner in dc corner, (dc on next dc) 10 times*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.
5. *dc corner in dc corner, (dc on next dc) 14 times*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.
6.*dc corner in dc corner, (dc on next dc) 18 times*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.
7.*dc corner in dc corner, (dc on next dc) 22 times*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.
8.sc all around the square, crocheting 3 sc in corners sp. Cut thread, weave in ends
Joining Edge
Join front and back pieces together, with back sides adjacents, following the center loops as a indication; fix them with a couple of pins. If you prefer, put a batting fabric between the scquares. Join the squares with pink yarn, inserting hook in both squares, making a sc in ea sc. Start and finish in a corner, leaving a 5" strand of yarn at the end. Sew it to the corner forming a loop.Weave in ends
