Material : Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn ( we call it "Poor Cotton", but a yarn like "Sugar&Cream should be good), color Orange (A) and Yellow (B), Hook no.4.5 (US=G/6); you may want to give a look to my virtual store if you need materials.

The Potholder is composed of two parts, that are joined together with the border row. The yellow 3D flower is crocheted on the front after potholder is finished.

Front

Start with A, 4 ch, join with sl st in first ch

1. (sc, 3 ch) 4 times in lp, join with sl st to first st.

2. *4 dc in next sp*. Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.

3. *(dc in next dc) 4 times, 3 ch* . Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.

4. *(dc in next dc) 4 times, (2dc, 2 ch, 2 dc) in next sp* . Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.

5. *sc in ea dc, 3 sc = sc corner in 2 ch sp* . Repeat * to * all around, join with sl st to first st.

6. *dc in ea dc, (dc, 2 ch, dc) in corner central sc* . Repeat * to * all around, join with sl st to first st.

7. *sc in ea dc, sc corner in 2 ch sp* . Repeat * to * all around, join with sl st to first st.

Flower

With B, join thread in first sp of Front Side first Row

1. *sc in next sp of Front Side first Row, 4 ch *. Repeat * to * all around, join with sl st to first st. => 4 lps

2. *(sc, hdc, 2 dc, hdc, sc) in next sp, hdc on next sc*. Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.

3. * sc around post of next hdc, 6 ch *. Repeat * to * 4 times, join with sl st to first st.

N.B.

• Always substitute (also if not explicitly said) first st in a row as follows:
  • first sc with 1 ch, sc;
  • first hdc with 2 ch;
  • first dc with 3 ch;
  • first tr with 4 ch...and so on;
• When you read "sl st to <location>", where the location is not immediately contiguous to last st, this means of course "an appropriate number of sl sts for reaching <location>".
• Also if I do not specify it, if you lasted prev row on a st (say st1), while you must start next row in another st (say st2), make an appropriate number of sl sts to reach st2.
