Comments: "Charmant", because it resemble to me all the charm of those old King Size crocheted bedspreads that you can find (in Italy, at least) in old houses, heirlooms made from some ancestress equipped with much patience and much free time!

But it can be used also for smaller items : think to a cushion made with 4 squares, or with a unique square repating round 11 more times (remember to increment 4 dc at each round! ), or if you are a "yarner", to a rectangular rug, made with 3*2 squares. Motifs leave space to creativity.....

Size :5" (13 cm.) diameter

Material :Pearl cotton # 5, hook 1.7 mm (Boye steel#7),azure; you can substitute with Cebelia #10 or equivalent cordonnet thread (but the gauge can slightly vary); you may want to give a look to my virtual store if you need materials.

1. 24 sc in lp; join with sl st to first st.

2. *dc in next sc, 3 ch, sk 2 sc*; Repeat * to * 8 times, join with sl st to first st.

3. *(sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc) in next 3-ch sp*; Repeat * to * 8 times, join with sl st to first st.

4. *sc between next two petals, on the back, 5 ch*; Repeat * to * 8 times, join with sl st to first st.

5.*(sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) in next 5-ch sp*; Repeat * to * 8 times, join with sl st to first st.

6. *sc between next two petals, on the back, 5 ch*; Repeat * to * 8 times, join with sl st to first st.

N.B.

• Always substitute (also if not explicitly said) first st in a row as follows:
  • first sc with 1 ch, sc;
  • first hdc with 2 ch;
  • first dc with 3 ch;
  • first tr with 4 ch...and so on;
• When you read "sl st to <location>", where the location is not immediately contiguous to last st, this means of course "an appropriate number of sl sts for reaching <location>".
• Also if I do not specify it, if you lasted prev row on a st (say st1), while you must start next row in another st (say st2), make an appropriate number of sl sts to reach st2.
