Round coaster
This easy but very nice-looking coaster can be increased at your pleasure adding rows like 5 and 6 (and increasing chain number to let the coaster remain flat, of course!).
Size : 12.5 cm (5 inches) diameter
Material: Pearl cotton # 5, hook 1.7 mm (Boye steel #7), blue and some white; you can substitute with Cebelia #10 or equivalent cordonnet thread (but the gauge can slightly vary)
Stitches : ch, sl st, sc, dc, trtr (= triple treble).
Difficulty: easy/medium
Directions
With Blue , start with 6 ch, join ;
1. in lp work * 2 dc, 3 ch *; Repeat from * to * 4 times more; join with sl st in first st.
2. sl st to first 3-ch sp, * 5 dc in sp, 12 ch, sc in 12th ch from hook *; Repeat from * to * 4 times more; join with sl st in first st.
3. sl st to 3rd dc of previous rnd, *sc in 3rd dc of 5 dc group, [6 dc, 3 ch, (3 dc, 3 ch) twice, 6 dc] in 12-ch sp * ; Repeat from * to * 4 times more; join with sl st in first st.
4. * trtr in sc, 5 ch , (sc in 3-ch sp, 5 ch) 3 times, 5 ch *; Repeat from * to * 4 times more; join with sl st in first st, changing to white.
5 - 6. sl sts to center of first sp, *sc in sp, 6 ch; Repeat from * to * all around; join with sl st in first st.
7. sl sts to center of first sp, *sc in sp, 7 ch; Repeat from * to * all around; join with sl st in first st.
8. * sc in sc, (7 sc) in next sp * ; Repeat from * to * all around; join with sl st in first st; cut thread.
