FOUR POINTS MOTIF
This nice medallion can be used single as coaster or grouped for a center table or table math. Motifs are joined together in the picots of last row, and the joining can be accomplished while crocheting motifs.
Size : 12 x 12 cm (about 4.5 x 4.5 inches) on the wider
Material : Pearl cotton # 5, hook 1.9 mm (Boye steel #5) ; you can substitute with Cebelia #10 or equivalent cordonnet thread (but the gauge can slightly vary)
Stitches : ch, sl st, sc, dc, dtr, picot (4 ch, 1 sl st in 1st ch)
Difficulty: medium
Directions
Start with 21 ch.
1. * 1 dc, 1 ch, sk next ch *; Repeat from * to * 9 times more; 1 dc in last ch (10 spaces), turn
2 - 10. * 1 dc on dc, 1 ch, sk sp * ; Repeat from * to * 9 times more; 1 dc in last dc; turn
At the end of 10th row cut thread and join in corner space; 11th to 13th row are worked all around the square worked in first 10 rows.
11. 1 ch, * 5 sc in corner sp; 2 sc in each of next two sps, 1 sc in next sp, 12 chs, sk next 2 sps, 1 sc in next sp, 2 sc in each of next two sps * ; Repeat from * to * 3 times more; join with sl st to first sc
12. 2 sl st to the 3rd sc of previous row, * 1 sc , (5 dtr, 3 chs, 5 dtr, 3 chs, 5 dtr, 3 chs, 5 dtr) in next 12-ch lp *; Repeat from * to * 3 times more; join with sl st to first sc
13. * + 5 sc on dtrs, (2 sc, 1 picot, 2 sc) in 3-ch lp +; Repeat from + to + 2 times more; 5 sc on dtrs * ; Repeat from * to * 3 times more; join with sl st to first sc. Cut thread.
