Comments: easy and classic square; just some originality in central part

Size : 15 1/2 cm = 6 inches

Material : Worsted Weight Yarn, colors A=Green, B=Red, C= Yellow, Hook no.4 (US=G/6)

Stitches :ch, sl st, sc, hdc, dc, hdc cluster = hdcl = 2 hdc closed together; initial hdc cluster= ihdcl =2 ch, hdc

Difficulty: easy

Directions

Start with A, 6 ch, join in first ch

1. ihdcl, 2 ch, * hdcl, 2 ch*;Repeat * to * 7 times, join with sl st in starting st;

2.sl st in sp, *hdcl in sp, 2 ch, hdcl in next sp, 4 ch*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join B with sl st in starting st;

3.sl st in 2-ch sp, *3 dc in 2-ch sp, 2 ch, (3 dc , 3 ch, 3 dc) = corner in 4-ch sp, 2 ch*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join C with sl st in starting st;

4.sl st in 2-ch sp, * 3 dc in 2-ch sp, 3 ch, (2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc) in corner space, 3 ch, 3 dc in next 2-ch sp, 3 ch*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join A with sl st in starting st;

5.sl st in 3-ch sp, *3 dc in 3-ch sp, 2 ch, (2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc) in corner sp, (2 ch, 3 dc in next sp) twice, 2 ch*; Repeat * to * 4 times, join B with sl st in starting st;

6. with B, sc in ea. dc, 2 sc in ea 2-ch sp, 3 sc in ea. corner sp. Cut thread, weave in ends.

N.B.

• Always substitute (also if not explicitly said) first st in a row as follows:
• first sc with 1 ch, sc;
• first hdc with 2 ch;
• first dc with 3 ch;
• first tr with 4 ch...and so on;
• When you read "sl st to <location>", where the location is not immediately contiguous to last st, this means of course "an appropriate number of sl sts for reaching <location>".
