Granny Square

Comments: Nice floral square using another square of mine, Pluto, as a base. Little sewing required. Hint: for a regular size (i.e.6 inches) square work only Rounds 1-7 of square, doing Round 7 in Yellow.

Size : 17.5 cm = 7 inches

Material : Worsted Weight Yarn, colors A=Yellow, B=Green, C=White,, Hook no.4.5 (US=G/H)

Stitches :ch, sl st, sc, dc, tr, dcl=3-dc cluster = 3 dc worked in same st and closed together

Difficulty: medium

Directions

Flower

Start with A , 4 ch, join in first ch.

1. 8 sc in lp; join in initial st.

2. *dcl in next dc, 2 ch* ;Repeat * to * 8 times, join B with sl st in starting st;

3. *sc on dcl, 3 ch, dc on sp, 3 ch, (3 dc) worked in last dc done, 1 ch* ;Repeat * to * 8 times, join B with sl st in starting st;

Square

Work Pluto square, doing Rounds 1-7 in White and adding Round 8 in Yellow:

8.sc in ea sc, 3 sc in corner sq. Cut thread

Sew Flower to Square with hidden stitches, like in Photo. Weave in ends.

N.B.

Always substitute (also if not explicitly said) first st in a row as follows:

first sc with 1 ch, sc;
first hdc with 2 ch;
first dc with 3 ch;
first tr with 4 ch...and so on;

When you read "sl st to <location>", where the location is not immediately contiguous to last st, this means of course "an appropriate number of sl sts for reaching <location>".
Also if I do not specify it, if you lasted prev row on a st (say st1), while you must start next row in another st (say st2), make an appropriate number of sl sts to reach st2.
