Comments: This little doily can be customized at your pleasure; for example, all of you that asked me for a name doily, can use this pattern in the following way; crochet following diagram rows 1..10, then start crocheting your name and finish in a symmetric way. It will result in a big gift runner! The sample for this doily is crocheted with FILET #1
Size : 4.5 x 7.5 inches (11.5 x 19 cm)
Material : Pearl cotton # 8, hook 1.25 mm (Bates steel #9); you can substitute with Cebelia #20 or equivalent cordonnet thread (but the gauge can slightly vary)
Difficulty: easy/medium
Directions
Start with 56 ch.
Row 1. Dc in 8th ch from hook (7 chs = 2 ch + dc + 2 ch), *ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next ch* Repeat * to * 15 times more: 17 empty squares.

Look carefully at diagram for crocheting webs. At the end of row 25, do not cut thread; crochet the edging
Edge: 1. 3 dc in ea sp, all around, 3 ch in corners;
2. Starting in a corner: (2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc in corner sp), 5 ch, sk 2 dc, *sc in next dc, 5 ch, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc, sk 2 dc*; repeat * to * along sides , making [(2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc), 5 ch, sk 2 dc] in corners. Join in first st, cut thread.
Tassel: Using a 6" cardboard piece, wrap thread 40 times around cardboard. Cut thread on a side of cardboard, and distribute the 40 strands obtained in 4 empty squares in first row. Wrap a thread piece 5 times around tassel, knot and cut.
