The sample for this potholder is crocheted with FILET #1 . If you want a real
"square" potholder, you can crochet it using FILET #2 technique.
Size : 18 cm wide (7.2 inches) x 15 cm high (6
inches) .
Material: Pearl cotton # 5, hook 1.7 mm (Bates
steel #4) white and blue; you can substitute with Cebelia #10 or equivalent
cordonnet thread (but the gauge can slightly vary)
Difficulty: medium
Directions
FRONT
With white, start with 69 ch.
Row 1. Dc in 4th ch from hook, and in
next 65 chs; 3 ch, turn: 67 dc, corresponding to 22 full squares.
Rows 2-22. Proceed following the diagram.(If the above link does not work, click here)
At the end of row 22 cut thread;
BACK
With blue , start with 69 ch
Row 1 Dc in 4th ch from hook, and in next 65
chs; 3 ch, turn : 67 dc;
Row 2 - 22. Dc in ea. dc; 3 ch, turn.
At the end of row 22, do not cut thread, but work
buttonhole in the corner you are in.
BUTTONHOLE
sc ,12 ch, sl st in sc; work 18 sc in loop, end with a
sl st in starting sc . Do not cut thread, but work edging.
EDGING
Join front and back with sc edging all around
the four sides, with blue thread. You will have a nice visual effect if you
crochet edging in this way - Taking both and front side with hook, (2 sc
between next two dc, sk next 2 dc).
